Calling All Poker Women

Calling All Poker Women
July 11, 2005
Michael Friedman

In today's poker world the women come to play and will take your stack just as fast their male counterparts. If you haven't been paying attention over the last couple of years, women like Annie Duke and Jennifer Harman have made it known that women players are here to stay and the boys better watch out.

The surge of female interest in poker has created a need for a poker conference designed to tailor specifically to women players. Fortunately for the new army of lady poker players, their wish has been granted.

The Women's Poker Convention is being held at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino from August 12-14. The goal of the conference is to help provide women with much needed information on how to successfully navigate the poker world and too empower women with necessary information to successfully challenge their opponents.

The convention will be hosted by renowned poker author Lou Krieger and features a number of lecturers. The keynote speaker is Jennifer Harman, a regular of the biggest cash games in the world, World Poker Tour champion, and two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner.

In addition to Harman, a wealth of female talent is set to provide informative lectures. Scheduled to present is WSOP champion Barbara Enright, two-time WSOP champion Susie Issacs, noted poker writer Amy Calistri, and professional players Roxci Rhodes, Cat Hulbert, and Lacey Jones.

The lectures will be followed by a panel discussion and the event will close with a women's poker tournament. The champion will take home a share of the prize pool and a prize package that includes a publicity kit, professional photo session, a profile in Woman Poker Player magazine, and a private tutoring session with a professional player.

Those interested in attending this convention should register early. If the 300% increase in turnout for the Woman's WSOP event was any indication, spaces to this convention will fly out the door. Add in the fact that if players register by July 12, they will receive an early registration discount, which making seats an even hotter commodity. The registration fee includes all formal functions, continental breakfasts, and lunches.

Ladies can register for the tournament and learn more at womenspokerconvention.com
